Dr. Aryeh Berlin, PsyD
Child Anxiety Specialist & Parent Coach
You’ve noticed the worry taking over your child’s life. The stomach aches before school. The meltdowns. The refusal to try new things. You’ve read the articles, tried the reassurances — and nothing is working. That’s exactly where I come in.
Nearly 20 years helping children overcome anxiety — and helping parents feel like they know exactly what to do.
Who I Help
Two deeply connected challenges.
One focused practice.
Children & Teens Struggling with Anxiety
Whether your child deals with school refusal, separation anxiety, social anxiety, panic, OCD, selective mutism, phobias, or relentless worry — I have spent my entire career treating these exact issues. I use evidence-based approaches, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), adapted for how kids actually think — not just how adults think they think.
Parents Who Feel Stuck
Sometimes a child’s anxiety or behavior has pushed family life to a breaking point. You may be walking on eggshells, losing your temper more than you want to, or just not sure how to respond in the moment. I teach parents practical, research-backed strategies so they become a powerful part of the solution — not just a bystander in their child’s therapy.
Why Families Trust Me
Trained for the hardest cases.
Built for the families in front of me.
01
I trained specifically for the hardest cases.
My APA-accredited clinical internship at South Shore Mental Health focused on treatment-resistant childhood emotional and behavioral disorders — meaning I trained on the kids other programs found most difficult to help. That experience made me a better clinician for every child I see.
02
I spent 11 years in a private school.
I worked daily with administrators, teachers, and parents on real-world child behavioral and emotional challenges. I understand how anxiety shows up in the classroom, not just in a therapy office.
03
My training spanned the full range of childhood difficulty.
From community mental health centers to youth detention centers to a psychiatric hospital in Georgia, I have worked with children across every level of severity. That depth means I don’t get rattled — and I don’t over- or under-react to what your child is going through.
04
I present professionally on what I practice.
I have delivered trainings on parent behavior management strategies to professional organizations including the Association of Orthodox Jewish Psychologists and the Northeast Counties Association of Psychologists. I teach other professionals the same frameworks I use with families.

My Approach
What treatment actually looks like
I don’t believe in therapy that goes on indefinitely without clear progress. From the first session, we establish what we’re working toward and how we’ll know when we’ve gotten there.
FOR ANXIOUS CHILDREN
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The gold standard, backed by decades of research — adapted for children in a way that’s engaging rather than clinical. Kids learn to understand their brain, face fears step by step, and build genuine confidence rather than avoidance.
FOR PARENTS
Direct, Practical Coaching
You won’t just be updated on sessions — you’ll be taught specific skills you can use at home, so the progress made in my office carries over into real life. Parents are part of the solution, not bystanders.
WHEN NEEDED
ACT & Motivational Interviewing
I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing when they serve a particular child’s needs. The goal is never a one-size-fits-all protocol — it’s a plan built around your child.
What Parents Say
Real families. Real results.
I don’t believe in therapy that goes on indefinitely without clear progress. From the first session, we establish what we’re working toward and how we’ll know when we’ve gotten there.
“As soon as we left the office for the first time, my son who had been so hesitant only one hour earlier turned to me and said, ‘I want to go back again.’ Dr. Berlin has a way of connecting with people and the entire experience was smoother because of it.”
— Parent of a child who was hesitant to start therapy
“My son knew how much Dr. Berlin really truly cared, and that made him look forward to going each week. When Dr. Berlin noted progress, he was genuinely excited. With each step forward, he reevaluated asking, ‘what else do we need to address to reach our goals?'”
— Parent of a child in ongoing treatment
Ready to get started?
I see families in-person in Bergen County, NJ and via secure telehealth across New Jersey and New York. Reaching us is simple — our intake team will get back to you within 24 hours.
Like most specialists in child psychology, we are an out-of-network practice. Many families find that their out-of-network benefits cover a meaningful portion of the cost — we’re happy to provide the documentation you need to submit a claim.
A note on focus: You’ll notice I don’t list 25 specialties on this page. That’s intentional. My focus is children and teens with anxiety and behavioral challenges, and parents who need real guidance. That focus is what makes me genuinely good at what I do — and what makes Aspire Psychological Group the right call for your family.
