Out-Of-Network Care, By Design

We treat The Patient not The Insurance Company

We chose to stay out-of-network. Here's why.

Most practices explain being out-of-network as a limitation to work around. We see it differently. Staying out-of-network was a deliberate choice, made to protect the integrity of your child’s care, not a gap we’re apologizing for.

Insurance panels come with real strings attached: session caps, mandatory pre-authorization, pressure to close a case on the insurer’s timeline rather than the child’s. None of that reflects what a child actually needs to get better. Being out-of-network means every decision about your child’s care, how often you meet, which approach we use, how long treatment takes, is made by your clinician, based on your child, not by what an insurance company will approve.

What This Looks Like in Practice

Built Around Response Time, Coordination, and Fit, Not Panel Rules

Staying independent only matters if it shows up in how care is actually delivered. Here is what that looks like day to day.

24 hrs
Response time on every inquiry
Direct
School and parent coordination, with signed consent
Every Session
Superbill provided for reimbursement
Licensed
Care led and supervised by a child and adolescent psychologist

Questions Families Ask Us

Out-of-Network, Explained

Why doesn't Aspire take insurance?

Taking insurance panels means a practice's caseload, session length, and treatment approach are partly dictated by what an insurance company will authorize, not what a clinician determines a child needs. Staying out-of-network lets our team make those calls based on the child in front of us.

Can I get reimbursed by my insurance?

Many PPO plans offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental health care. We provide a superbill after each session, an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement. We recommend calling your insurer directly to ask about your specific out-of-network mental health benefits before starting.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. Therapy is a qualified expense under most HSA and FSA plans.

Is this actually worth it, or should I look for someone in-network?

That's worth thinking through, and we don't want to pressure you either way. What we'd say is that with us, you're not getting whoever has an opening. You're getting a fit for your child, with a clinician who isn't limited by insurance rules on how care is delivered. For a lot of families, that difference is worth the difference in cost, but you should feel good about whatever you decide.
